finishing a basement want to take out one column

I am looking to finish my basment I have one column I would like to remove.I need info on what type of beam or angle iron etc..I can put there to increase the strength of the center beam.The lenght og the center beam is 27' I am only looking to remove one column the next column is 16'from the foundation wall.I want to know what the best thing to do is the house is a colonial two floors.The center beam is made of 2x10's.If there is anymore information you need please e-mail me thanks.
