I need to know if this is possible. I am looking into buying a restaurant, and would like to get as much space from the building as I can. It has a dinky three bedroom apartment that is not sufficient to my needs. The main building is a 100 year old building that has very high ceilings, and from the outside it looks as though there is ample space to put living space, granted it would have sloped walls, what I need to know is how do I drop the downstairs ceiling to maybe eight to nine feet or so, to add a little more space upstairs? what kind of supports would I need to bear the weight? and I would need to have it pretty soundproof between levels. The building is 1600 square feet and is basically a long rectangle. Can somebody please give me some advice as to a guesstimate to what it might cost? and how to go about having it done? Or if it is even doable. What kind of issues I might run into that I am unaware of?
