Hello, I have a home with a support wall downstairs that is between a small living space and the garage. I want to take the cement block out and replace it with a I-beam to open it up to a one big room. Can I support it with a steel I-beam that wouldn't need a support pole in the middle of the room? Or is there a better way that I could do this. And if the I-beam would be ok should there be footers dug into the floor and how deep and how large squared? If you could give me any ideas it would be most helpful. Thanks Rob
