replacing 3/8 inch offset HL hingesFrom: carabetta@mindspring.com Category: Cabinetry Remote Name: 66.32.194.98 Date: 06 Jul 2006 Time: 11:04 AM
CommentsI am searching for 3/8 inch offset H hinges to replace my 1950s hammered copper HL hinges on all my kitchen cabinets. I would love to find a satin nickel finish, but the one hinge I have found in this finish is quite expensive. See http://www.hardwaresource.com/Store_ViewCatLevel3.asp?Cat=173 I have been searching the web for a while and have not found anything else. $500 just for hinges seems ridiculous. If I can't find satin nickel finish at a lower cost, I would consider a shiny steel finish which would work okay with my stainless steel theme, in order to save a few hundred dollars. See http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS/EN_US/shop_cart/pg_alt_view_popup.jsp?CNTTYPE=PROD_META&MID=9876&prod_id=179280&com.broadvision.session.new=Yes&CNTKEY=shop_cart%2fpg_alt_view_popup.jsp
I am looking for a simple, sleek, understated design, not too decorative. I also want to keep the job as simple as possible (using the same holes.) I plan to clean/sand/paint the cabinets after removing the doors and before replacing all the hinges. Also, I assume that H hinges will support the doors just as well as HL hinges? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
