RE-SPANNING FLOOR SUPPORT TO FREE BASEMENT OF COLUMNSFrom: LEGALEATER@AOL.COM Category: Structural Remote Name: 152.163.100.136 Date: 29 Apr 2006 Time: 09:34 AM
CommentsI WOULD LIKE TO SPAN 16 FEET WITH SUPPORT ONLY AT THE ENDS. THE CURRENT FLOOR IS MADE UP OF 2 X 8's running into a triple 2 x 12 header supported by lolli columns every 5ft. There are no bearing walls resting on the floor above. What do you suggest that the header be made of? I would like the beam to be flush with the ceiling. flitch plate? microlam?
