CommentsFirst off, the moment of inertia has nothing to do with the span - it is purely a function of the beam cross-sectional shape. Second, the beam will have a different moment of inertia about each of its principle axes.
For a rectangular cross-section of dimensions bxh:

Moment of Inertia about x-axis: Ix = (b*h^3)/12
Moment of Inertia about y-axis: Iy = (h*b^3)/12
In your case, as in most, you'll be using the beam oriented as shown above (it's strong axis). Therefore, the moment of inertia you're interested in is Ix.
For a 1 7/8" x 11 7/8" beam cross-section oriented as above, Ix = 261.65 in^4.
