Drop Beam Construction

I am redoing my porch roof. 2-2"x10" drop beam with rafters on top. Each side of the drop beam is connecting to my house, it just so happens that the beam lands in between two studs. How can I support the drop beam to the house with no studs. Can I put two horizontal 2"x10"'s between the studs and hang it off of that. Please let me know any suggestions. Thanks, Paul
