I am going to insulate our attic(blown)I would also like to use it for storage. Current ceiling joists are 2x6 native lumber, usually poplar or oak.9" of insulation is needed.I need to build up joist to be able to get space for insulation to be able to lay plywood.Am I better off stacking and cleating another 2x6 or should I put 2x10's beside existing joists? I am aware that either option requires the ends to sit on bearing wall.Spacing is 24"o.c. Thanks for any help you can provide.
