I would offer two solutions: 1. Use an automotive body filler with fiberglas in it's mix. In the case of a door lock of a diiferent size I would set a dowel in the hole and then fill it with the bondo, this will give the drill bit something to hold to without wandering out plumb. 2. Use a router to carve out an area and set in a new piece of wood of similiar type/grain. Try to mortice it in place for greater stablity. You really need to be a talented woodworker for this solution. Hope this helps.
