Re: Smoothing lathe & plaster wallsFrom: hawkeye1201@yahoo.com Category: Wallboard/Veneer Plaster Remote Name: 12.216.22.161 Date: 11 Nov 2004 Time: 06:59 PM
CommentsYour house was built about the time that builders were changing from wood lath and plaster to wallboard and plaster. You may have one or the other. Sometimes with wood lath and plaster the plaster was covered with a muslin material to hide cracks that would eventually occur. This material was applied with glue like wall paper. If it is the muslin material it can be removed but you may find lots of cracks under it. There are modern remedies for fixing plaster cracks and imperfections, and I will try to remember the name and give it in a later post.
