calculating i beam size

I am removing a 12 foot load bearing wall, there is 1 floor of living space above the wall. How do I calculate the size of the I beam necessary to support that span? There will be a 10" horozontal heat duct running at ceiling height the length of the span. Can the support beam be on either side of the duct and how big must the beams be?
