Hanging a hammock chairFrom: jstill@vt.edu Category: Other/Misc Remote Name: 69.161.0.163 Date: 03 Oct 2004 Time: 04:01 PM
CommentsHello,
I do not know anything about contruction or building so I am hoping you guys can help me so I dont cave-in my ceiling. I put up a hammock chair (a hammock like chair that hangs from one large J-shaped screw) by finding a stud, drilling a hole, and screwing the screw in. However, I heard that I should make sure the stud could handle the weight so I looked in the attic at what I had screwed into. It is the small side (it's side ways) of a 2 X 4 which has two beams comeing from the roof down into a V-shape attached to it. Is there any "I can do it myself" way to reinforce the beam to hold the hammock chair (10 pounds) and me (110 pounds) or will it hold it or should I just take it down? Thank you for your help!
Julie
