Moving a toilet waste line across floor joists

I would like to move the toilet in my second floor bathroom but to do so, I would have to go across 2 floor joists. Is it possible to reinforce the joists with strapping so I can cut part of them out for the drainage? The joists span a distance of about 5 to 6 feet between supports. If this is not possible, is there any other way support them? Or, am I out of luck?
