I would like to replace a 4" rusted Ibeam support post in my basement. The old post appears to be concrete filled. Home Depot only has a 3" "Tel-O-Post" which is adjustable in height. Should I be safe replacing the old 4" post with this 3"? I do not presently have any sagging problems and do not want to create any either. Steel I-beam: 32'long x 8" wide House:two story + an attic Supports: 2 - 4" x 7' posts apprx. 11' apart.
