I’m ready to get some quotes from local contractors regarding the installation of stairs to a loft on a second floor. The plan is to have the stairs installed within the cavity of where basement stairs exist. Since I'm not a contractor I was wondering what the ballpark cost of project like this would run. The job would require opening the loft floor and wall for the stair access, the making of the staircase, re-routing electrical wires, re-framing and doorjamb installation, drywall finishing and the installation of an lvl header to support the load. Any professional opinion will help with my decision process. Thank you.
