basement waterproofingFrom: loveyourvet@optonline.net Category: Drainage/Waterproofing Remote Name: 67.82.114.204 Date: 15 Jun 2004 Time: 08:53 PM
CommentsI have a relatively straightforward question, but can't seem to get a real straightforward answer. Maybe someone can help. I am getting water in my basement which currently has a floating floor and sump pump. I have received estimates for interior perimeter drains (french drains) to be put in beneath the concrete slab. Two of the companies want to use perforated PVC pipe, and the other two companies want to use ADS pipe. The ones that use PVC said not to use ADS, and the others said ADS is better. Are there any benefits/drawbacks to using one vs. the other? Also, how important is it to cover the pipe with a filter fabric, etc? I live near the Jersey shore with relatively sandy soil. Should I avoid a company that doesn't use a filter cloth around the pipe? Thanks for any input! Helpless in N.J.
