I want to put a hottub on an existing sundeck. (10' high) 1/2 of the tub would sit on a 10' span and 1/2 would sit on a 12' span. Joists are doubled 2x8's with 16" centres, verticals are doubled 2x4's spaced between 4x4's on one side, so essentially all 4x4's - all sitting on a concrete foundation - the other side is attached to the house and has been reinforced with two strategically placed vertical 6x6's and joist hangers. The hot tub is 93" x 92" and is approximately 4000 lbs filled weight - needing 90 lbs per square foot of support. Am I okay with this? (I tried to get our city engineer to determine - but they will only comment on loads to 40lb/sq.ft. Thanks Shelley
