I have a new construction 3rd floor condo with a deck. the deck is 8' x 32'. The condo is brick construction. The deck spans 8' between an interior brick wall and an exterior brick wall using 2x8 16" centers, without intermediate supports. The deck runs 32' along both interior and exterior walls. The deck is attached to both the interior and exterior walls using 2x8 ledgers and heavy duty joist hangers and galvanized lag bolts. My question: Can I safely place a hot tub measuring 93x93x36 on the deck? If not, what would be my options to reinforce the deck since I cannot place pilars (lateral support) under the deck due to my 3rd floor location. For example can I place steel beams between the two concrete walls? thank you.
