I am trying to keep my builder honest for a home addition I am looking to do. We would like to add a 20x24 room off the back of our house, along with a 3rd car garage to attach to the addition. I was shocked at the estimate that he gave us. Is there a general rule of thumb for cost per square foot for the addition? And what is a ballpark figure for adding a 3rd garage? When we built our home in 1996, the going rate for a good quality builder was around $60 per square foot. Thank you in advance. Brian
