Please Help..... I have a split type house with the lower floor partialy below garade and the upper floor 3 steps above grade. the house has a shed type roof with a pich of less then 5-12. the upper level the floor space is devided into thirds. we would like to open the floor plan up by removeing the walls and put in steel beams to carry the roof load. the clear span across the rafters would be 24feet. the spacing for the beams would approx 11 feet. so we would have ( front wall - 11' - beam - 11' - beam - back wall ) . the beam that would be at the back of the house we have to keep as small as possible height wise for head room. the roof is 2x10 rafters, plywood and single layer membraine roofing. the load of the roof is the only thing the beams would have to support. oh yha and we do get snow here. hope u can help Steve
