hi, I've just had a house inspected that I am probably going to buy. The one problem that come out in the inspection is that the corners of the beams just above hte slab foundation have started to rot. It really looks like this is just beginning and not a problem all the way down the beam. It looks like the prior owner let some leaves pile up in this area and it kept the beam wet. The inspector said to repair it, we'd have to have a house jack come in and support the house while we pulled the beam out and put another one in. My main quetion is how big of an expense is something like this? Is it something my handy husband can do with the right equipment? It is probably better to get this problem nipped in the bud before it becomes a big deal. ANy info would help. Thanks, Alyse Dietrich
