Re: house smellsFrom: pwwooten@hargray.com Category: Foundations and Basements Remote Name: 64.203.220.241 Date: 17 May 2004 Time: 05:30 PM
CommentsWe bought a house that had been closed up and it smelled also. We discovered it was the floor joists which had been treated with creosote at one time. The house is 60 yrs old. We hired an insulation company to come and apply "closed cell foam" to the entire attic space and crawl space under the house. The house has no smell now. We made sure we installed adequate venting in the foundation so the air could move through.
