decks here in Chicago suburb go for as little as $14 per square foot to as much as $20 per square foot (custom with the bottom closed up, benches, corners cut off with sunburst railings, multiple levels, etc..) Basically, when it is basic, labor is about same as materials 50/50; but when it is custom, labor is a lot more than materials, etc..
