Baseboards on walls not straight

We have purchased some 2 1/4" high baseboards that taper and are almost 1 inch at the bottom. After prepping them (painting cutting etc) we realized that the walls themselves are not totally straight and we have a gap in the middle when we attempt to install. The baseboards appear to be MDF. Is there anyway to install these so that we don't have the gap (gap is probably 1/8")? It would be quite noticeable to try to fill. We are hesitant to glue as we don't want to tear the drywall and nailing even into the wood behind the drywall doesn't seem to hold. Can we bend the baseboards somehow? Please help! Thanx!
