Is corrugated steel underdeck the way to go??From: tpokusa@rayengr.com Category: Concrete Remote Name: 24.3.53.187 Date: 19 Feb 2004 Time: 11:46 AM
CommentsI am attempting to build a 15'x20' addition off of the back of my house. The 20' length will run against the existing house wall. I want to do a concrete deck so that I can have a weather tight room below for storage. The storage room walls will be 8" block. Is the corrugated steel the best means for support? What gauge and size sheets should I use for a 4" thick concrete slab?
Will I need permanent support under the decking or temporary? Also, I can remove the bottom 2 rows of brick on the existing wall and rest the steel sheets and concrete on the ledge created by removing the brick. That ledge will also be on top of 8" block wall. Will that ledge give me enough support while using tie-rods, or should I have some type of beam there as well?
I can email repliers a PDF sketch of what I am proposing.
Thanks for any info!!
