Acids within the urine and wine react with the tannin in the wood, which causes the stain. Depending on how deep the fluid seeps will dictate how many cleanings or sandings you need. Unfortunately, it sounds as if the urine and wine have penetrated the outer protective surface, so you will need to do some sanding in order to remove the dark color. The following methods could help remove your stain: 1) Sand the spot with medium grit sand paper to remove the clear finish 2) Once you’ve reached the bare wood you could use any number of the following to lighten the wood color: household bleach, hydrogen peroxide, Oxy-Clean, Oxalic Acid (Wood Bleach). Which ever method you use, apply the solution on the stain and repeat until you’re satisfied. After each application wait 10-15 minutes then wash the spot down with water. Don’t use vinegar to neutralize the solution, as this could react with the nails in floor and cause more stains. When using the household bleach, apply full-strength to the spot. 3) If your floors are a natural color to begin with, then sand the spot with 100 grit sandpaper until smooth. If not, you’ll need to sand and apply a color stain to match the surrounding wood color. 4) Lastly, apply you clear finish.
