I'm going to build a room addition (kitchen)between two exisitng exterior walls of a house separated by 12 feet. These walls have brick veneer, and recently had concrete pillars installed under them down to bedrock (due to minor shifting). Can I tie into these walls to support the loads for the new room? One wall is two stories tall, the other is one story, and both sections of the house have hip roofs. I was reading that you shouldn't have one part of a house's foundation on soil, while the other is on bedrock, and I was hoping to avoid making a new foundation if possible. Thanks!
