Pet smells/stains in wood flooringFrom: bcobb913@hotmail.com Category: Flooring Remote Name: 204.167.177.68 Date: 03 Nov 2003 Time: 12:58 PM
CommentsI just purchased a house and in the process of refinishing the floors. The previous owner had dogs and cats and they went to the bathroom on the hardwoods. The smell is what concerns me the most. The whole house smells like piss, especially after sanding down the wood. How can I get the smell out of the hardwoods? I have gone over the floor with 36 and 60 grit paper with a drum sander. Should I put something on the floors before I stain and polyurethane the floors? Will the refinishing process get rid of the smell or do I need to do something else to get rid of it? I am replacing some the wood boards (b/c of cracks) which should help but I would like to stay away from that as much as possible.
Thanks, Billy
