Thank-you for your comments. I have conducted repairs to the roof. I took your advice and replaced the 2x4 that had broken away from the framing. On further investigation of the fiber board the buckled fiber board was not buckled but had moved with the 2x4 that had broken away. Once I had replaced the 2x4 and realigned the fiber board which was in good condition, I reenforced the entire side with 2x4's 18 inches apart between frames. I off-setted these 2x4's on each frame to ensure strength. This reenforced the fiber board and gave the whole wall of what I believe better strength. I also put metal brackets (I do not know the official terminology) at each joint to give further strength and to bind the joint. I inspected the flashing on the chiminey and it appeared to be in good condition. I reapplyed flashing roof tar on the outside. On the inside of chiminey I also added roofing tar where the roof met the chiminey and applied flashing tape on top of the tar (over the crack. There was not much of a crack after replacing the 2x4 but to give me piece of mind I did this)to give a better seal. In viewing the outside vinal wall, the wall looked square.
