steel beamFrom: slopok777@hotmail.com Category: Structural Remote Name: 68.81.35.203 Date: 23 Sep 2003 Time: 05:43 PM
CommentsWe are putting an addition on our house which is going to take away a supporting wall and openning it up. The total open area is a 24 foot span, no second floor. What is your recommendation as far as a wood beam or steel? We have been told to go with wood we either have to have an 18 inch beam with a post which we really don't want to have or a steel beam at 8 inches. Could you give me the pros and cons of these? Thank you
