alternative minumum requirement for crawlspace ventilationFrom: steve@delmarsystems.com Category: Alternative Building Techniques Remote Name: 66.192.149.211 Date: 10 Sep 2003 Time: 05:27 PM
CommentsI am in the process of building a new home in the City of Carlsbad California. I am having some difficulty convincing my City inspector that less ventilation may be required if the ground in the crawlspace is covered by a plastic barrier. I noticed that the builders web source page http://www.builderswebsource.com/_discBT/00000251.htm ,indicates the requirement is 1 per 1500 if plastic is applied. Do you know where to find information (code) to substantiate this? I have a block wall foundation with nearly half of the exterior sides at top near grade so providing cross ventilation without vent wells will not be possible.
Please contact me at your earliest opportunity if you can help me.
Best regards,
Steve Pearson
