Beam size exterior wallFrom: brian@mantasports.com Category: Architecture and Building Design Remote Name: 66.91.181.21 Date: 31 Aug 2003 Time: 03:06 PM
CommentsI am trying to get an idea of some beam size options for a 16 foot span. It is a single story house. This is an exterior wall that I am going to punch for a 16 foot sliding door. The house is located in Hawaii so no snow loads issues. However, wind loads can be an issue. I realize that any final number should come from an engineer. I am simply looking at design options at this point. I am not interested in using steel. Glulam or similar would be the proffered option.
