Water in BasementFrom: cindypena@comcast.net Category: Drainage/Waterproofing Remote Name: 68.54.115.241 Date: 18 Jul 2003 Time: 03:15 PM
CommentsWe have an addition on our house that is about 15 years old which has both a sunroom at ground level and a finished basement room, or at least it was finished until we discovered the mold and ripped down the walls! The basement room has a concrete slab foundation with block walls that are just full of water. The grading outside is difficult to determine because 2 of the 3 outside walls are under the deck, but its probably safe to say based on the slope of the rest of the yard that it is probably graded towards the house. My husband is convinced that the solution is to rip up the deck and the shrubs and re-grade those outside walls, while I am more a fan of installing a drainage pipe inside with a sump pump.
We have consulted with a number of contractors, but they all have their specialties (from sumps to exterior footing drains), but none have suggested re-grading. Can you help me sort this out before we rip up the deck only to discover that we also need the sump??
