What do I do with SOILED STAINED hardwood floors

I just pulled up my parent's carpet and we revealed the 38 year old hardwood which has been covered for 30 years. Unfortunately, the family dog has soiled to the point where there are several black stains on the hardwood. Is there anything I can use or do they just need to be sanded until its not noticable. Thank You..............
