1st Floor or 2nd Floor AdditionFrom: jlee1001@yahoo.com Category: Architecture and Building Design Remote Name: 24.50.227.46 Date: 28 May 2003 Time: 12:57 PM
CommentsWe are considering adding on to our home. We must choose between adding a 2nd story onto our garage, or a 1st floor addition. Can anyone advise as to whether or not there is generally a large cost difference between these 2 strategies? Both require tying into existing rooflines, and creating a means of entry into exterior support walls. The significant difference, as I understand it, is that the 1st floor addition will require footers, and the 2nd floor will require removal of the existing roof. I appreciate any insight on this topic.
Thank you
