I'm installing pavers in front of a storage barn. I have excavted to a depth of about 4-5 inches. I compacted the soil. I filled the void with "Quickcrete all purpose gravel". As the area I'm installing the pavers is only 6'X 6', I did not tamp/compact the gravel. The gravel is very loose. Will this be ok once I add the layer of sand? Should I try and wash some sand down into the gravel to make it more firm? Thanks, William P.S. I have used railroad ties as the perimeter. The ties are secured together at the ends with 8" screws.
