Re: Removing Double Pane WIndow with AdhesiveFrom: alan933@hotmail.nospam.com Category: Windows and Doors Remote Name: 216.196.146.157 Date: 15 May 2003 Time: 11:50 PM
CommentsOk I got it after some tussel.
Here's the proper technique.
Run the putty knife all the way around the outside to free the window from the adhesive and vinyl frame. Then, on the inside, pry the window up with the putty knife and use a small straight slot screw driver to slide the black rubber wedges out (hardest part). Put tape on inside of window and fasten it to frame so it doesn't fall out when you try to free it from the outside (if working alone). Continue sliding putty knife around outside seal untill window starts to losen from vinyl frame. One corner should eventually come free. Once two corners are free go back to inside and remove tape and pull towards you from top. Lift up and remove.
Optional Suggestions: Light two Citranella candels if working at night during summer to keep mequitos from having you for lunch.
Keep plenty of Sponge Bob Square Pants bandaids on hand in case you're cut by broken glass.
