replacing a wall with a laminated beamFrom: miller1136@cox.net Category: Architecture and Building Design Remote Name: 68.99.226.159 Date: 08 Apr 2003 Time: 12:57 PM
CommentsI am remodeling my hom and I would like to take out a wall and replace it with a beam, so the home flows better. the wall is 21 feet and is supporing trusses in one side 16 feet and 12feet on the other. I know Ineed at least a 24 feet beam, but my question is how thick does it have to be? Will a 5 1/2 X 24 do?
