I am looking into building a 2-level addition off of the rear of my existing split level home. The process will involve some excavation with dirt to remain on site, concrete & foundation work, and wood framing of the second floor and roof. Is there an easy way to estimate costs, be it a cost per square foot, or something along those lines. the total size will be approx. 30'x30' (900 sq ft). I can get a pretty good idea of materials needed by doing the plans on CAD and pricing that way, but that gets to be time consuming. Also, what can I estimate the markup to be for the contractor(s)? Thanks.
