Backyard deck: Pressure treated wood vs SyntheticFrom: t-hutchings@neiu.edu Category: Decks Remote Name: 66.99.13.253 Date: 03 Feb 2003 Time: 03:07 PM
CommentsI'm going to be installing a new deck in my back yard this summer. I had decided to go with
one of the new synthetic materials (Trex) because low maintenance is a priority. Lately I've
been reading a lot about mildew problems with this type of material. Is mildew that big of a
problem? How 'Low Maintenance' is Trex? Is it worth the extra initial cost?
Also, are there other materials out there that won't fade but still give the look or real wood?
