I am purchasing a cement block home located in Florida. It has an addition on the back of the house which added a small bedroom and a dinning room. We would like to take down the original block wall between the new bedroom and an existing bedroom to open it up for a master bedroom. The original home has a tile roof and the addition is roll roofing. The span will be 12ft. Should I stick with wood to build a header or can I go with a smaller steel beam to reduce the beam look in the new larger room.
