Heighth of shower curbFrom: frank@coosnet.com Category: Building Codes and Zoning Remote Name: 65.161.126.38 Date: 01 Jan 2003 Time: 10:14 AM
CommentsI'm building a custom home and the master bath has a 5'X 5' walk-in shower. Drain is located on centerline, but 18" from back wall and approx. 3' from shower entry. Code for doorway curb height (according to inspector) is 2 1/2" which, after pan pre-slope, pan and tile base leaves a step of about 4" up from bathroom floor. Several years ago, I did one of these for a handicapped access shower and was allowed to leave a lower curb, since, with a 1/4" to 1' slope to drain, there was an exception to allow a lower curb height due to distance to drain.
Any advice or help is appreciated.
