brick house lifting

We have had a termite problem over the years which is being addressed by our pest company. Termites have caused damage in our first floor wood flooring and have eaten away the "band boards" around the foundation. The pest company is suggesting we have the house lifted 1/4" to replace the band boards as well as replacing the subflooring. Is this necessary action ( lifting ) or is there an alternative? This seems drastic and could create more problems.
