Re: grout removalFrom: info@builderswebsource.com Category: Tile/Marble/Granite Remote Name: 63.198.181.43 Date: 09 Nov 2002 Time: 05:27 PM
CommentsPhosphoric acid, available from most tile and home improvement stores, is used to remove grout haze and remnants from acid-insensitive ceramic tile surfaces. Big clumps should be first scraped and removed carefully (such as using a chisel or razor knife). Of course, don't hit or scratch the tile which could crack or damage it. If it's unglazed porcelean tile, natrual stone, or marble you're talking about, acidic cleaners (including even white distilled vinegar) will dull or damage the soft surface. For natural materials such as these, try using Tec SuperClean™ STG Heavy Duty Stone, Tile and Grout Cleaner (see http://www.tecspecialty.com for more information). Regardless of which material you use, always test an inconspicuous area first, or a leftover tile remnant. Be sure the chemical you use does not react with the finish of the material.
