Re: Floating slab over high water tableFrom: info@builderswebsource.com Category: Foundations and Basements Remote Name: 63.198.181.43 Date: 13 Oct 2002 Time: 11:18 PM
CommentsSince soil and moisture conditions vary so much from location to locations, we strongly urge you to consult with a geotechnical engineering firm who can take ground samples of the soil and measure the water table level. For example, expansive soils require pier foundations or floating structural slabs (often with foam compression voids underneath). If you know that you have a high water table, you must provide a good drainage plan to divert water away from the foundation. Both subsurface drainage, as well as a closed drainage system connected to the downspouts and landscaping drains should be part of the overall plan. The geotechnical firm can make specific foundation recommendations based on further analysis of your specific site conditions. Builders Websource.
