Re: dog damaged baseboardsFrom: info@builderswebsource.com Category: Painting and Wallcoverings Remote Name: 212.203.28.37 Date: 11 Sep 2002 Time: 03:55 PM
CommentsYour dog has chewed of the corners of your baseboards and you're looking for a way to patch and repair them. Depending on the extend of the damage, a high-quality interior spackling paste can be used to fill in the damaged areas. This can be sanded smooth to match the existing contour. The decorative lines you describe may have to be "hand recreated" to match as best as possible. Spackling paste is available from any painting or home supply store, such as The Home Depot. If you want a truly permanent job, there are two-part epoxies available that form a super durable repair. However, these are expensive, difficult to work with, and probably not the best solution for the casual DIY'er. We recommend that you use a sandable spackling paste and do your best to make it look like new. After the spackling has thoroughly dried and you've done all the sanding and detailing you want, go ahead and prime it with a quality primer, and paint to match the existing baseboard, feathering in the to match. Good luck! Builders Websource.
