Squash blocks are generally not required for traditional 2x stick framing, so long as you have a rim joist. Generally, squash blocks are used with engineered wood joists, such as I-joists. However, using squash blocks between the floor joists over the exterior walls won't hurt either. It's your call on this unless your local code specifies one way or the other. Builders Websource.
