New Home - Water In BasementFrom: jcmcgovern@hotmail.com Category: Foundations and Basements Remote Name: 207.171.93.45 Date: 05 Aug 2002 Time: 12:22 PM
CommentsWe are having major water problems in our new home. It started about last year in april when my wife and I came home and saw our basement flooded. We called our builder and he came over and punched some holes in the walls to releave pressure. He said it was the grading problem and once the grading is complete we should have no problem. Then after it was graded we still have water problems in our basement. After many times of calling him and having many concrete guys come by our house and try to fix the problem there is still water problems.
He stopped by our house a few weeks ago and told my wife that the reason NOW for the continuing problem with our leaky basement is that we didn't do the landscaping correct in the front of the house where we put small landscaping rock. To me it does not sound correct and I think he does not want to take responsiblity on it. How can that cause water to leak in the basement? If the building was done correctly or has no holes in it should it hold the water? What should I do? Anyone Please help.
