Re: Replacement for Color-Lok Siding? From: megwpbfl@aol.com Category: Select Category From List.... Remote Name: 64.12.106.38 Date: 26 Jun 2002 Time: 08:02 PM
CommentsIn case any others out there have similar siding concerns, I contacted Masonite's headquarters yesterday and was told they are reserving their remaining Color-lok inventory for those claimants who are awarded re-dos through the lawsuit proceedings and warranty adjustments. After checking my home again, and finding several more rotting portions, I've decided to file a claim -- again. My entire house was resided in 1992 as part of the original suit against Masonite. Their product had failed after just 2-3 years on the new homes throughout my subdivision. Color-lok, the replacement, was billed as their upgraded, top-of-the-line siding. Well.... I guess it's become apparent that ANY hardboard siding is not appropriate for our weather conditions here.(We've had
over 20 inches of rain so far this month.) At first, I didn't want to bother with the headaches of filing claims, but now I see the damage is much more extensive then I thought. I'm really quite irritated over it all (!)
---Thanks so much for your advice.
