paint vs vinyl siding

I have a 22 year old home that has aluminum siding with no insulation that needs painting. We just had an addition put on that is vinyl siding. Would it be more beneficial/cost effective to paint the old aluminum siding or replace it with vinyl siding with 1/2 inch insulation?
